Happy Spring
I’ll be the first to admit it: I love spring skiing (snowboarding.) I love everything about it. I love that the snow gets slushy and makes a wake behind you like a speed boat, I love crazy goggle tans, I love not having to bundle up, and I love sporting a bikini top when the occasion calls for it.
That being said, I recently broke out my lighter snowboard apparel so that I am no longer sweating in a down puffy. Yesterday, one of my colleagues informed me that my pink (yes, pink) jacket made me look like a snowboarder punk. Honestly, in combination with the green pants, I think I look more along the lines of an accident involving the Easter Bunny, but that’s just my opinion…
However, it wasn’t just Max who was clearly so intimidated by me in my pink jacket. Today, two ladies in the lift line refused to ride up with me and referred to me as “one of you punk snowboarding kids.” I replied with, “I’m 35 next month but that’s cool,” trying to hide my hurt feelings. Hiding a sniffle and a sob (no, not really) I rode the lift with some very nice skier people from Florida and invited them to come rafting with Blazing Adventures when they are back this summer. They took down my number and promised to call when they are back in town.
The moral of this story is: if you see a terrifying pink and green snowboard combo on the hill this spring, please do not be alarmed. I’m harmless and maybe, just maybe, I might get you out rafting when you’re back in Aspen/Snowmass this summer.
Happy Spring everyone!!!
